New Tintype Portfolio

Being very busy the last 2 weeks working on a new portfolio of just my Tintype work.
And if I do say so myself its the best looking portfolio I have ever produced.
Its the product of 2 years of work and just the start of many changes happening to my business this year.

New Year, New Work, New Scanner.

Ok so January is almost over but it feel good to be doing my first post of 2010.
I bought a new scanner over the holidays to scan my tintypes and I have being really happy with the results as I can get so much more detail from the plates.
These 2 images are from a shoot right before Christmas.

I have lots of new work from last year that I am excited to get out.
I have many plans for this year and I am working on but first task is a new portfolio for my Hybrid Agent I have putting this off for way to long and now its time to get busy.

Hope you enjoy the pics and plenty more to come.......

Miami Shoot

I just got back from a really cool shoot in Miami.I was down there shooting a women's fashion catalog for spring summer 2010.At the end of one of our long days I tested with one of our amazing models Kamimi Chin Loy making the most out of the day and getting work that I can use for myself. The rest of the catalog looks amazing but can not share until it's out.

More to come........

New Tintype Work

Last Monday I shot another tintype shoot. I wanted to change things up quite a bit from my previous tintype shoots. So I started with the camera I shot with a 5x7 camera giving me much larger plates from the 4x5 I was used too.I do not think I will ever switch back as I love the larger size.I shot these again at Rayko and Michael my Tintype technician informed me had changed his formula of developer resulting in cleaner looking plates.

I booked a wonderful model Ellen Hancock from Look Modeling Agency in San Francisco.
This time I really wanted to work with a stylist and got connected with Tietjen Fischer from Artist Untied she also does Hair and Make Up which makes things even easier.
She brought the most amazing wardrobe to the set and from the first plate on every image was a winner.
By now I have my lighting down when I am shooting these and I include my lighting diagram which I handed off to my assistant Brian Molyneaux we took off all but bare diffusion and got the shutter speed down to 1/8 second.
To see the rest of this shoot please check out the New Images section of my website.
